Family Wellness Center
The Healing Space: Finding PEACE among our pieces.
The Family Wellness Center is committed to building relationships with families that support family well-being, strong parent-child relationships, and ongoing learning and development of parents and children. FWC will provide activities to families that support their children’s positive development from early childhood through young adulthood.
Family involvement will be encouraged in the home, school, and community, and is a shared responsibility with all program staff that supports children’s learning, beliefs, attitudes, and behaviors. Our approaches will be evidence-based, family-focused, strength-based, culturally relevant, collaborative, and trauma-informed. Families come in many forms, large, small, biological, adoptive, extended, divided, blended, and same – sex. Some families wish to develop better parenting skills, build stronger relationships, or may want to help a child who is experiencing behavioral or emotional challenges.
Many will be coming at a critical stage of development in their child’s life, and they will need support and guidance. The Family Wellness Center will be a safe space for parents and caregivers to explore their parenting experiences, while learning from one another. We will support children’s school readiness by developing and building partnerships between program staff, families, and the community. FWC will provide parenting workshops, evidence- based, trauma-informed parenting program each semester for 10 weeks, along with bi-weekly events and trainings for parents. We will focus on adult’s spiritual, Mental Health awareness, social- emotional wellness, mindfulness, Children's developmental variations, and physical development, as families explore what it means to be a parent. The workshops will take a hands-on approach to parent and family development, where learning happens from “the inside out.”
Parents will learn more about themselves, their relationships, and the resources they need to parent their children effectively and build strong families.
